Where can I get funding for a sustainable development project?
Unfortunately here in the Sustainable Development Unit (SDU) we do not have the resources to offer funding for sustainable development related projects. We have however constructed a list of funding available across the UK from a wide range of organisations, the list can be viewed on our sources of grants pages. Please note: This is not an exhaustive list, and while we aim to update the information on a twice yearly basis we do accept that at times some of the details given may have changed.

I want to put a link to my non Government SD-related site on your website. Is this possible and who should I contact?
We are keen to include links to the websites of non government organisations who are also working to promote sustainable development. However we are unable to link to any websites belonging to profit making organisations due to the unfairness of any competitive advantage that could be gained from such a link. We will judge each potential link on its merit and reserve the right to refuse to include it on our website if we do not feel that it has enough relevance to the promotion of sustainable development. If you would like us to include a link on our website, please email sdudiv@defra.gsi.gov.uk with details of your website and the address.

What is the difference between the Sustainable Development Unit (SDU) and the Sustainable Development Commission (SDC)
The Sustainable Development Unit is located within the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Their role is to help embed, monitor and report on sustainable practice across Whitehall and the UK. The Sustainable Development Commission is the Government's independent advisory body on sustainable development or as many people put it: 'the Government's critical friend'. They are a Non Departmental Public Body and are sponsered by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
