Sustainable operations on the Government estate: measuring departmental performance |
||||||
The role of the Sustainable Development Commission (SDC)Reporting on the targets has historically been the role of the Government's Sustainable Development Unit. However, the UK Government Sustainable Development Strategy, Securing the Future, published in March 2005, committed the Government to 'stop reporting [its] own progress and hand that task over to a strengthened Sustainable Development Commission (SDC), which will act as the independent “watchdog of government progress'. The responsibility for annually assessing Government performance against the Framework was transferred to the SDC in May 2005, and the SDC produced the Sustainable Development in Government: Fourth Annual Report 2005 in November 2005. The new targets will apply to the reporting period April 2006 to March 2007 and beyond.
