Sustainable Development Dialogues: Mexico

The UK-Mexico Sustainable Development Dialogue (SDD) was launched with Mexico in October 2006 between UK Environment Secretary Margaret Beckett and her Mexican counterpart, Luis Ernesto Derbez.

A work programme for the UK-Mexico SDD was agreed on 24 July 2007 between the British Ambassador to Mexico and the Mexican Under Secretary for Planning and Environmental Policy.

Six priority work themes have been agreed and initial activities identified to take forward under each of the following headings:

  • National governance for sustainable development
  • Climate change and energy
  • Sustainable tourism
  • Sustainable consumption and production
  • Sustainable urban development and sustainable cities
  • Natural resources management.
