18. Waste

Total waste from all sectors disposed of in landfill sites, 1998 to 2006

In 2006 in the UK, around 78 million tonnes of waste were disposed of in landfill sites. This includes waste produced by households, commerce, industry and construction and demolition.
This is a decrease of 16 per cent since 1998 when 93 million tonnes of waste were disposed of in landfill sites.
