- The percentage of new dwellings arising from building on previously developed land or through the conversion of existing buildings increased from 54 per cent in 1990 to 75 per cent in 2007 (provisional estimate).
- The percentage of all new development (not just residential) occurring on previously developed land (measured by land area) also increased from 47 per cent in 1990 to 61 per cent in 2005.
