Changes in sustainable development measures since 1990 and 1999.

SCP pies

  • Indicators for sustainable consumption and production (SCP) mainly cover emissions, resource use and waste. 20 measures (over half) show improvement compared with 1999, rising to 21 measures compared with 1990.  Those showing improvement include emissions of air pollutants, waste recycling, agricultural emissions, and land recycling.  Compared with 1990, domestic material consumption additionally shows improvement.
  • Measures showing deterioration since 1999 are greenhouse gases from aviation, service sector carbon dioxide emissions and household waste arisings.
