- Instead this indicator shows assistance received by the UK in the form of European Union structural funds for the regions.
- EU structural funds on a national level was broadly the same in 2000 (£1.10 billion) and 2006 (£1.07 billion). The allocation of these funds between the regions between 2000 and 2006 remained broadly similar although the largest increase was in the East Midlands (£13 million) and the largest decrease was in the North West (£24 million).
- However, the North West still received the largest share in total (£239 million), with the South East receiving the least (£37 million).
