Wellbeing

For the first time in 2007, national wellbeing measures were included in the National Sustainable Development Indicator set.  They can be found here.

Percentage of people reporting overall life satisfaction ratings, on a scale from 0 to 10, 2007

  • The graph above shows one of these measures - the distribution of the overall life satisfaction indicator at the national level, using a scale from 0 – 10 (with 0 meaning very dissatisfied and 10 very satisfied), .  The average life satisfaction rating nationally in 2007 was 7.3.  The links below show this breakdown by region with comparisons to England as a whole. 
  • To maintain relatively robust estimates, the graphs below amalgamate categories 0-4 as the absolute numbers of people involved in each of these categories once the sample is broken down by region is small.
