Objective: Address transport issues
  • Overseas flights by UK residents more than quadrupled between 1980 and 2002, and visits to the UK by air more than doubled.
  • Although air travel by UK residents has continued to increase significantly since 1998, the number of overseas visitors to the UK by air was 2 per cent lower in 2002 than in 1998, partly due to the aftermath of the 11th September terrorist attacks.
